Decision-making / Online Voting / Electronic Democracy¶
There are been many parallel attempts made at developing electronic democracy. While we are at this time black boxing the "voting" we must circumscribe the space that we stand to operate in, and understand the existing landscape in academic and other circles.
The electronic direct democracy (E2D) wiki provides a thorough index of e-Voting platforms
- Voterola is social software in support of non-party primary elections and public rule making. They develop the tools to enable a radically free democracy based on unrestricted voting, drafting and discussion. Their alpha prototypes cover everything from voter registration in electoral districts to consensus making, and they lead the field in design, theory and inventions.
- Agora Virtual Parliament. The Agora Ciudadana project aims to develop an internet voting system that is cryptographically secure, supports vote delegation, and scales well to massive elections.
- Open Assembly is voting platform and social network designed to implement a secure trust network using an innovative Photo Verification method.
- Interoccupy Consensus Proposal. No cost, Lowest tech possible, prioritizes On-The-Ground GA process and autonomy.

Projects in Legislative Use¶
- Liquid Feedback is the platform that catapulted the Piratenpartei (Pirate Party) into the state parliament of Berlin and has her at 7-10% in recent national polls. It's a solid implementation of the Schulze method combined with proxy voting. Open source of course. Concerning the validity we use physical identification with testimonies and organize that in form of an association or political party. See http://piratenpad.de/occuliquid for more.
